What does sobriety look like? In our Style section, we look at different answers to this question through photo shoots with some of our most eye-catching sober friends! Recently, we got the chance to go on a fashion mission with our ridiculously handsome friend, Jenson! We got the chance to pick his brain about clothes, sobriety, tattoos, and relationships.

NSH: Hi Jenson! Can you please introduce yourself to our readers?
Jenson: My sobriety date is April 6th 2008, I’m a Gemini. I’m married to a super hot woman and I dislike talking about myself LOL. I have played the drums since I was 3 years old. As an adult, I have worked in and around the fashion industry for the past 8 years. Currently I am an account executive for a fashion showroom in Orange County, Ca.
NSH: What’s your philosophy for putting together an outfit? Are there any fashion rules that you abide by?
Jenson: I keep up with current trends, but I try to come up with my own style based on things I like. I merge different things together.
NSH: You have amazing tattoos!! Can you tell us about them?
Jenson: Even though I have almost my entire body tattooed, only 3 of them have real significant meaning. One for my mom, one for my dad and one for my wife. I know everyone asks if tattoos have meaning and some people believe they all should, but I consider my body a canvas for the artist to display their work. I have many tattoos that I regret too… they all seemed like a great idea at the time I was getting them.
NSH: What advice do you have for dudes that are trying to up their style game?
Jenson: When I’m trying to up my style or change my style, I follow tons of Instagram accounts – fashion brands, influencers, etc. I pull inspiration from different people and places. Find what you like and what works for you – and step out of your comfort zone. Try wearing that thing you love, but are super uncomfortable wearing. Most people are afraid to step up their game because they’re afraid they will look stupid – I say wear what you want regardless of the opinions of others.
NSH: So, your wife happens to be here with us today too! Can you tell us a little bit about your relationship?
Jenson: She is the fucking best. My life would be shit without her in it. She literally saved my life. I love her. She is the most amazing, talented, loving human being I have ever met. She helps me be a better version of me.
NSH: What has your sobriety been like?
Jenson: My sobriety has been a roller-coaster as I assume most people with any amount of time have experienced. Full of high “highs” and “low” lows. I’m no different than the average person, I just don’t drink or use drugs no matter what. I have received the gifts of sobriety, and so much more. I could never have imagined my life being what it is today, on day one.
NSH: Do you have any parting words for our readers?
Jenson: If you haven’t figured it out yet, let me fill you in on the fact that life is one big adventure, full of ups and downs which are all part of the process. Exist in the present, don’t define yourself by the past, enjoy the ride. It only matters who you are today, not who you have been. Take some risks… have some fun… and don’t take yourself so goddamn seriously.
Thanks a lot for the post.Really thank you! Much obliged.
